Water restrictions announced for Mangaung

SABRINA DEAN – Residents in the high-lying northern suburbs of Bloemfontein should brace themselves for a hot, dry weekend.
This as the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality announces water restrictions for Heuwelsig, Pentagon Park and surrounding areas. Spokesperson Qondile Khedama says the low-lift pump in Maselspoort is undergoing repairs. "It is under repair and as a result we have reduced water supply from 65 mega-litres to 45 mega-litres, obviously it means high-lying areas will be affected, particularly in Heuwelsig and Pentagon Park," he says.
Khedama explains that as soon as reservoir levels get too low, there is not sufficient water pressure to service high-lying areas.

He is urging residents to refrain from wasting water by washing cars, topping up swimming-pools or watering their gardens. Khedama says engineers are working on the problem and have said they expect things to get back to normal by Monday.
He says water tankers will be deployed in affected areas.
