The Central University of Technology (CUT) Free State is celebrating the selection of two radiography students for the prestigious Optimax International Exchange Programme at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands.
Rearabetswe Malatji and Lydia Tselane, who are studying towards a Bachelor of Radiography in Diagnostic in CUT’s Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences, will take part in the programme from 13 to 25 July.
The exchange programme brings together radiography students and healthcare professionals from South Africa, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Ireland, the United Kingdom and Switzerland to share knowledge, strengthen research collaboration and explore best practices in medical imaging and patient care.
During the programme, the students will participate in research-based activities, collaborative learning and discussions on topics such as patient safety, professional ethics and advances in radiography. The initiative aims to strengthen international partnerships while equipping participants with skills and insights that can improve healthcare delivery in their home countries.
The opportunity offers Malatji and Tselane an exposure to international healthcare systems and cutting-edge radiographic practices while allowing them to engage with peers and experts from leading European institutions.
The exchange also reflects CUT’s continued commitment to internationalisation and academic excellence by providing students with opportunities to broaden their professional and cultural perspectives.
Upon returning to South Africa, the students are expected to apply the knowledge and experience gained during the programme to contribute to improved healthcare services and strengthen radiography practice locally.
