Mangaung Metro Municipality (MMM) has warned residents that reservoir levels across the metro remain under pressure as operational interventions continue in an effort to stabilise the water supply system.
According to the municipality, muddy runoff from upstream rivers has negatively affected water treatment operations, resulting in bulk water production being reduced below normal operating capacity. “This is affecting the amount of clean water that can be supplied into the system,” the municipality said.
As a result, several areas across Mangaung may experience low water pressure or intermittent water supply. Affected areas include Dewetsdorp, Wepener, Pellissier, Vista Park, Phelindaba, Rocklands, Heidedal, Heuwelsig, Westdene and surrounding communities.
The municipality said efforts are ongoing to restore stability to the system and urged residents to use water sparingly during this period.
