Three suspects arrested in Bloemspruit

Members of the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) in Bloemfontein have arrested three suspects and confiscated an unlicensed firearm as well as a significant quantity of narcotics during an operation in Bloemspruit.

According to Free State police spokesperson Mahlomola Kareli, the arrests were made on Saturday (07/03), while AGU members were conducting routine duties in the area. Officers received information about an unlicensed firearm at a specific address and responded immediately.

“Upon arrival, police encountered a 21-year-old woman at the property. A search of the premises led to the discovery of an unlicensed firearm hidden outside between a shack and a pile of bricks,” Kareli explained.

He added that during the same operation, officers proceeded to a second location where they arrested a 32-year-old man who was wanted in connection with a pending case of attempted murder.

The three suspects are expected to appear soon in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court, where they will face charges including possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, dealing in drugs, and attempted murder in relation to the wanted suspect.
