Police in Phuthaditjhaba are appealing to the public for assistance in locating a man wanted in connection with an alleged rape.
According to Free State police spokesperson, Mmako Mophiring, the incident occurred in May when the complainant returned home with her boyfriend from a local tavern. An argument allegedly broke out between the couple, during which the boyfriend assaulted her.
“At about 04:00 the following morning, he allegedly woke her and instructed her to remove her clothes. When she refused, he allegedly forcibly removed her clothes and raped her in the presence of her daughter,” Mophiring explained.
The complainant reported the incident to her nearest police station. Since then, the boyfriend has disappeared, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
