Centlec has warned service providers, contractors and members of the public about a fraudulent email circulating in connection with one of its tenders.
According to the utility, the email relates to Tender No. CD04-2026 for the excavation of cable trenches, repairs and installation of cables over a period of 36 months. “The email falsely claims to originate from the office of the Centlec CEO and requests recipients to contact a cellphone number regarding the tender.”
The power utility has confirmed that the communication is fraudulent and was not issued by the utility or its chief executive officer.
“Officials do not communicate tender matters through personal cellphone numbers or unofficial email channels.” Therefore, any request for urgent contact, payments, deposits, or confidential information relating to tender processes should be treated with suspicion.
All official tender-related communication is conducted through CENTLEC’s approved procurement channels and official contact details.
Recipients who receive the email are advised not to respond, call the number provided or share any personal or company information. The matter should be reported to Centlec’s Supply Chain Management Unit or the relevant authorities.
