Eight suspects have been arrested by police in Ventersburg following the discovery of illegal drugs at multiple residences in the Mmamahabane area.
According to Free State police spokesperson Palesa Thabana, officers were conducting routine operations on Sunday (12/04) when they received information about an alleged drug dealing operation in the area.
“Upon arrival at the first address, members found two males aged 30 and 32. Permission to search the premises was requested and granted. During the search, drugs and money were discovered hidden in an ice cream container under the bed,” Thabana said. The two suspects were subsequently arrested for possession and dealing in drugs.
Police then proceeded to a second location, where two men aged between 19 and 25 were found in possession of drugs and cash. Both were arrested on similar charges.
The operation continued, leading officers to additional addresses where two more suspects were apprehended. At a fourth residence, two males aged 23 and 21 were also arrested.
During the coordinated search operations, police seized mandrax tablets, crystal meth, dagga, and undisclosed amounts of cash believed to be proceeds of crime.
All eight suspects are expected to appear in the Ventersburg Magistrate’s Court soon, facing charges related to drug possession and dealing.
