A 43-year-old suspect was arrested yesterday after live R5 ammunition as well as a 9mm magazine were found at his home in Botshabelo.

Yesterday at around 07:30 members of the Tactical Response Team (TRT) reacted on intelligence driven information which led them to a house in S Section, Botshabelo.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant  Mahlomola Kareli, the male suspect granted members of the police permission to search the house. While searching, the team found 22 rounds of live R5 ammunition, two rounds of 9mm ammunition, as well as a 9mm magazine.

“The suspect could not account for the ammunition in his possession and was arrested. Members also discovered that the suspect was illegal in the country. No firearms were found during the search,” said Kareli.

The suspect will appear in the Botshabelo Magistrate’s Court for illegal possession of ammunition and contravening the Immigration Act.
