The Central University of Technology (CUT) has responded to videos circulating on social media in which one of its students raises concerns about her experience in a university residence and makes allegations of sexual harassment involving a staff member.
In a statement, the university reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on sexual harassment, gender-based violence (GBV), abuse, discrimination and victimisation. “CUT maintains a zero-tolerance approach to any conduct that compromises the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of members of the University community,” the statement read.
The university further stated that it is committed to ensuring that all allegations of this nature are dealt with through appropriate institutional processes that are fair, independent, confidential and consistent with the principles of natural justice and due process.
“These processes are designed to protect the rights of all parties while ensuring that allegations are properly investigated and appropriate action is taken where warranted,” CUT said.
The university has not commented on the specific allegations but emphasised its commitment to addressing all complaints through its established procedures.
