No new money for FS government



There is no new money granted to Free State provincial departments.

According to provincial HOD of the Department of Treasury Godfrey Mahlatsi said that the biggest chunk of the money is allocated from conditional grants. He was speaking at the media briefing where Finance MEC Elzabe Rockman presented the 2014 Adjustment Budget to the Free State Legislature on Thursday in Bloemfontein.

Mahlatsi said the Department of Police, Roads and Transport received the biggest amount of R233 million from the overall budget and an additional R45 million as a donation. He explained that the Department of Health will receive R173 million and clarifies that the biggest part of the amount comes from the conditional rollover grants of the hospital revitalization grant.

“We have also allocated the health facility grant for R18 million and allocated funds towards medical consumables for the department of health. The Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation is the third largest department receiving money R73 million which the biggest money is for Macufe and Seisa Ramabodu Stadium,” he said.

Mahlatsi said that the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) will receive R30 million towards financial and infrastructure support to municipalities. He explained that a R10 million paved road will be built at Viljoenskroon by Cogta and R5 million to be allocated towards disaster recovery at Maluti-a-Phofung Municipality
