Man arrested for stolen property in Heidedal

Police in Bloemfontein have arrested a 40-year-old man in Heidedal for allegedly being in possession of suspected stolen property and illicit goods.

According to Free State police spokesperson Malhomola Kareli, officers acted on information received on Friday (20/02) about a residence where stolen property and dangerous goods were allegedly being stored.

“Upon arrival, they met an adult male occupant. During the search, members discovered 23 containers filled with 550 litres of diesel, with an estimated value of approximately R11,000. A white Opel Corsa bakkie, believed to have been used in the commission of a crime and possibly stolen, was also confiscated,” Kareli said.

The suspect was immediately arrested and is expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the origin of the diesel and to determine whether the suspect can be linked to other crimes within the Mangaung Metro.
