The violence in Ladybrand has heightened as the Red Ants have moved back into Manyatseng township to forcefully evict illegal occupants.
Chairperson of the Manstopa Residents Association Kay Durant says the eviction started at 6AM this morning and the current situation is an all out war.
Several foreign owned business are being looted, schools have been broken into, two ward councillors had their houses burnt down and several school kids have been displaced due to the angry community.
Police have had to call for reinforcement from Harrismith, Fisckburg and Bethlehem to help contain the violent crowd.
According to Durant a Pakistan business owner got injured during looting that took place at his store and has been transported to Bloemfontein for urgent medical attention.
The municipal spokesperson Mohlomi Mokoatsi sayS the municipality has ordered eviction to proceed, but reports reveal him, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Kokame Matsie and the town’s mayor Sello Ntsepe have since fled town since the outbreak of the violence.
