Two suspects arrested during drug bust

Two suspects have been arrested over the weekend for allegedly operating a clandestine drug laboratory in Vaal Park in Sasolburg.

This comes after the K9 Unit from Sasolburg received a tip-off about a clandestine drug laboratory in the Vaal Park area and followed it up.

While on their way to execute the search warrants, a vehicle matching the description of that of the suspects was spotted in the corner of Namib and Kamiesberg Streets. An attempt was made to stop it, but it failed.

According to Warrant Officer Lynda Steyn of the Hawks the vehicle was later cornered after a high speed chase and a bag full of CAT drugs was found, resulting in the arrest of the driver.

The team proceeded to the house where drug manufacturing chemicals, including battery acid, acetone, caustic soda, acid and other unknown chemicals, were found and seized and another suspect was arrested.

The Hawks have since taken over the investigation. The two suspects are expected to make their first appearance in the Sasolburg Magistrates Court today.
