Two arrested for Spur armed robbery

SABRINA DEAN – Police have arrested two suspects in connection with an armed robbery at the Spur at Preller Square last night.
Although unable to confirm the name of the restaurant, police spokesperson Thabo Lithabe did confirm that an armed robbery took place at a restaurant at Preller Square just after 11pm last night (Sunday). Bloemfontein Courant has learned from alternate sources that the incident took place at the Spur restaurant.
Lithabe says four suspects robbed restaurant patrons of cellphones and valuables, as well as an undisclosed amount of cash from the restaurant’s safe. He says one person was slightly injured during a crossfire:
"One of the waiters was injured during a crossfire. One of them fired one shot inside the store but the waiter escaped with only minor injuries," he says.
Lithabe says a shootout ensued wth security gaurds in the parking area but nobody else was injured.
He says two suspects aged 31 and 45 have since been arrested in with nine cellphones and cash in their possession. Lithabe says they will appear in court soon on charges of armed robbery.
