Vala Umgodi operatives in the Free State have arrested three men, aged between 36 and 47, after acting on information they received regarding a possible robbery that was being planned.
According to Free State police spokesperson, Mahlomola Kareli, the suspects were apprehended en route to Virgnia. “The arrests took place when proactive and combat teams tactically intercepted a charcoal-coloured VW Polo, bearing Limpopo province registration numbers, as it was travelling along Virginia Way heading towards town,” he mentioned.

Kareli further added that upon arrest, the suspects allegedly had illegal firearms, which were hidden in the vehicle. “A thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of two firearms. One firearm was found concealed within the boot’s side lining, while the second firearm was located in the vehicle’s cubbyhole on the front passenger side,” he added.

The suspects are charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and conspiracy to commit robbery and are expected to appear in the Virginia Magistrate’s Court soon.
