The Bloemfontein SPCA is appealing to residents of Bloemfontein to keep the city’s animals safe and warm.
According to the SPCA’s Inspector Lucky Olifant, the Bloemfontein SPCA inspectorate team has been working tirelessly in the past few days due to the heavy rains affecting Bloemfontein and surrounding areas.
“Many dogs have been found chained outside in these harsh conditions, unable to move freely or find shelter from the rain,” said the inspector. “This is extremely distressing and dangerous for them.”
He went on to say: “We urge all pet owners to keep their animals warm and dry at all times.”
The SPCA is also appealing for the public to donate blankets for the animals in their care, or additionally making a financial contribution by sending “Bloemspca” to 42646, or visit www.bloemfonteinspca.co.za and click on the ‘donate’ button.
“Together, we can keep these vulnerable animals safe and warm. Thank you for your kindness!” concluded Olifant.
