The ground floor offices at the Free State Department of Economic Development and Tourism (Destea) head office in Bloemfontein is temporarily closed due to compliance issues identified by the Department of Labour.
According to the department’s spokesperson, Mojalefa Mphapang, affected units include the Supply Chain Management and Biodiversity Management (permit office/Problem Animal Control & Law Enforcement) offices.
“The temporary closure of the said floor is necessary for the health and safety of the departmental clients and employees. In the meantime, the department has put in place several measures to ensure business continuity,” he explained.

Mphapang reiterated that the ePermit (online) system can also be accessed from the departmental website.
In addition, Supply Chain Management services can be accessed by contacting 082 695 5851. Walk-ins are encouraged to report to the security desk to be redirected to the relevant floors for services.
“The department would like to assure the public that service delivery remains the number one priority of the department,” Mphapang concluded.
