Man (64) arrested in Tumahole for possession of mandrax, crystal meth

A 64-year-old suspect was arrested in Tumahole following an intelligence-driven operation by the Fezile Dabi District Highway Patrol and the Tumahole Crime Intelligence Unit. The operation, carried out on Monday, 17 March 2025, resulted in the discovery of a substantial drug stash.

According to Sergeant Josephine Rani, at approximately 13:45, law enforcement officials acted on a tip-off regarding an African male allegedly in possession of drugs at a residence in Tumahole. Upon executing a search warrant at the premises, officers uncovered 260 mandrax tablets and 66 ziplock bags containing crystal meth.

The suspect, whose identity has not been released, is set to appear in the Parys Magistrate’s Court today, 19 March 2025, to face charges of possession of drugs.

Rani confirmed the arrest, emphasising the success of the intelligence-driven operation in curbing drug-related crime in the area.
