Botshabelo man busted in possesion of unlicenced firearms and ammunition

A 26-year-old African male from Botshabelo is behind bars after Police acted on information received and managed to recover a shotgun with ammunition and suspected stolen goods.

On Friday the 21 April 2017 Selosesha Crime Intelligence, Selosesha K-9 Unit and Selosesha Flying Squad acted swiftly on information received about unlicenced firearm in Section K area in Botshabelo. Upon arrival at the given address they searched the shack that was behind the main house and found two air guns. Members continued their search and found an unlicenced shotgun that was hidden between corrugated iron.


Police searched further and found 86 shotgun rounds, 13 spades, a computer box, car radio, blood pressure monitor, bolt cutter and a toy gun.  The 26-year-old African male was arrested for the unlawful possession of unlicenced firearms and ammunition and possession of suspected stolen goods.

Investigations are still underway and Police will investigate the origin of the shotgun and ammunition and also trace where the suspected stolen goods might have been stolen from.

Brigadier Kgothatso Ramokotjo, Selosesha Cluster Commander thanked the community for their cooperation and for providing police with positive information that led to the arrest.
