Bloemfontein man arrested in possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition

A 40-year-old man was arrested in Bloemspruit for the alleged possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Saturday (21/6).

According to police spokesperson, Mahlomola Kareli, members of the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit in Bloemfontein acted on intelligence-led information that led them to a shack at Pieter Swart, at approximately 19:00.

“Upon arrival, officers tactically approached the residence and found a 40-year-old,” stated the spokesperson. “The members introduced themselves and the reason for their search.”

Police discovered a hidden loaded firearm under a mattress in the man’s bedroom.

“The 40-year-old was immediately arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition,” added Kareli. “He will appear in court soon.”
