This is according to Free State Emergency Medical Services (EMS) spokesperson, Sipho Towa, who told OFM News that the emergency service was alerted of the accident at 22:30 last night. Towa added that a Volvo SUV had overturned and left two others injured.
He stated that upon arrival, the EMS crew declared two people dead on the scene and found two others critically injured while another has sustained moderate injuries. The patients were transported to Pax Community Health Centre in Viljoenskroon, but one was declared dead upon arrival.
Furthermore, OFM News has previously reported that numerous accidents have claimed the lives of people this past few weeks. In a recent accident reported, the EMS has cautioned motorists to adhere to the speed limit and avoid reckless driving following the death of three people in a collision more than a week ago on the ZR Mahabane Road (R30).
Meanwhile, Transport Minister, Fikile Mbalula, revealed the road safety campaign for the approaching festive season in which he warned drunk drivers that they would be locked up. Mbalula also stated that traffic officers will be more visible and that all drivers will be stopped and tested.
