Police hunt suspects after Zastron stabbing

Free State police in Zastron have appealed to the public for assistance in locating suspects involved in a group fight that left a 36-year-old man critically injured on Sunday (21/06).

According to Free State police spokesperson Sinah Mpakane, officers responded to a complaint of people fighting on Sunday morning. Upon arrival, they found Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel attending to an injured man.

“It is alleged that a group of people were involved in a fight. The victim, Mojalefa Tshupane (36) from Ezibeleni location, Matlakeng in Zastron, was unable to speak due to his critical condition and could not be interviewed,” said Mpakane.

She added that Tshupane sustained a stab wound to the head and was transported for medical treatment.

One suspect is expected to appear in the Zastron Magistrate’s Court on a charge of attempted murder. “The motive for the fight forms part of the ongoing investigation,” Mpakane said.
