Three arrested on alleged murder and two still at large


The Phuthaditjhaba police have arrested three suspects age between 21 and 32 from various villages in Qwaqwa on alleged murder of Thuputla Wesi (53) of Lusaka section at Makwane Village.

According to the police spokesperson Maako Mophiring, the alleged murder incident could not have been reported to the police if was not about the victim’s admission three days in Mofumahadi Manapo Mopeli Regional Hospital where he died.

“The allegations are that on 14 September 2013 the deceased and other five suspects were engaged into a fight at Setsing Shopping Complex. He was badly assaulted and sustained serious injuries which led to him be rushed into hospital which is about 500 meters away from shopping complex,” he says.

Mophiring says the motive behind the fight and Wesi death is not yet known. “The family was notified of his death and they positively identified the body. The police traced and arrested three suspects from Naledi, Mabolela and Makong Villages in Qwaqwa through community information,” he says.

He says the three suspects have been charged with murder and they are expected to appear before Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate court on Monday. “The other two are still on the run. We urge them to report hand themselves at Phuthaditjhaba Community Service Centre at any given time,” says Mophiring.
