Twelve suspects were busted for drugs, copper cable and dangerous weapons in Welkom on Monday.
According to the police, members of the Welkom K9 Unit received a tip-off while they were busy with their routine patrol duties. Spokesperson Stephen Thakeng says the tip-off was about a Nigerian man selling drugs.
“Police followed up the information, which led them to a certain house in Phambili Street in Reitz Park, Welkom. They found a 31-year-old man with CAT that weighed 80 grams with the street value of R16 000. Members involved in this venture were Welkom K9 unit and Thabong Crime Intelligence.”
The suspect is facing charges of dealing with drugs and is expected to appear in front of the Welkom Magistrate’s Court today.
In two separate incidents that transpired yesterday, members of the Welkom K9 Unit arrested nine suspects for being in possession of a copper cable and two other suspects were also arrested for possession of dangerous weapons.
These suspects are also expected to appear in front of the Welkom Magistrate’s Court today, respectively.
