NPA declines to enrol Emmarentia road rage case pending further investigation

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has decided not to enrol the case relating to the alleged road rage incident in Emmarentia on 19 April 2026, pending further investigations. The decision follows an assessment of the available evidence, with prosecutors indicating that additional information is required before a determination on prosecution can be made.

According to NPA communications officer, Magaboke Mohlatlole this decision comes after careful consideration after careful consideration of the evidence currently before the prosecution.

“It was determined that further investigations are required to ensure that all relevant facts are properly canvassed before a decision to prosecute can be made. The matter remains under active investigation, and the NPA has directed that additional evidence be gathered to strengthen the case.”

A decision will be made on whether to proceed with prosecution once investigations have concluded.

“The NPA remains committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that all prosecutorial decisions are based on sufficient, credible, and admissible evidence, in the interests of justice.”
