The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is encouraging all social grant beneficiaries to make use of its e-Life Certification self-service platform to complete their life certification process.
The agency acknowledged that some users previously experienced difficulties accessing the portal due to system glitches linked to integrations with other departments. SASSA has since resolved these issues and apologised for the inconvenience caused.
Beneficiaries with access to digital devices are urged to complete the process online via the SASSA Online Services Portal, avoiding the need to travel to offices or stand in long queues. The e-Life Certification system uses biometric verification through an electronic Know Your Client (e-KYC) system to securely confirm identities.
SASSA said the upgraded platform is designed to protect the integrity of the social grants system while improving convenience. Beneficiaries are reminded that failure to complete life certification when requested may result in payment delays or suspension of grants.
