The Mangaung Metro Municipality held its first Integrated Development Plan (IDP) review and 2026/27 budget engagement on (21/04) in Thaba Nchu, led by Executive Mayor Gregory Nthatisi, alongside Deputy Mayor Lulama Titi-Odili and MMC for IDP and Performance, Cllr. Theodorah Mosala. Additional public active engagements will be conducted across municipal areas to collect residents’ contribution.
According to Nthatisi, the engagement was aimed at genuine consultation, stating: “The purpose of this engagement was not to make empty promises, but to directly consult the community on their development needs and priorities.”
Deputy Mayor Titi-Odili confirmed a R44 billion budget allocation for key services including roads, water, electricity, and community safety, encouraged residents to register for indigent support, which provides a 50% subsidy on basic services.
Counsellor Mosala presented a structured delivery plan and highlighted progress such as electricity rollout, a network tower, 12 RDP houses, two streetlights, and a 1.8km paving project in Motlatla, with updates shared through social media.
About 60,000 residents are currently registered, with a national target of 120,000 by June 2026.
