Oliewenhuis to commemorate Human Rights Day

The Oliewenhuis Art Museum is inviting Mangaung residents to join in a special Freedom Day celebration on Monday (27/04).

In a statement, the museum encouraged the public to take part in a day dedicated to reflecting on freedom, progress, and unity. “Come be part of this meaningful celebration by gathering your loved ones and joining us to relax and unwind in the museum’s serene setting from 09:00 to 15:00,” the statement read.

Visitors are welcome to bring picnic baskets and enjoy the museum’s lush front gardens before or after exploring the exhibitions on display. Guests can also take a leisurely walk through the Sculpture Park and surrounding trails.

For children, the popular African Carousel will be open, offering rides at R5 each.
The museum highlighted its current exhibitions in both the Main Building and the Reservoir Gallery, describing them as immersive and thought-provoking. “Each exhibition is curated to captivate the imagination, challenge perceptions, and inspire creativity,” the museum said.

Visitors can expect a diverse range of artistic expressions and innovative concepts designed to encourage reflection and engagement, making for a memorable cultural experience for all ages.
