Mr & Miss Martie 2022 crowned

The new Mr and Miss Martie du Plessis were crowned at a glamorous event at the school. The theme of this year’s pageant was ‘Chess’.

Thabang Matona was crowned as Mr Martie, while Juané Verster was crowned as Miss Martie. The second and first prince were Ockert Blignaut and Bohlale Sekoboto, while the second and first princess were Lida Byleveld and Juané Verster.

According to an organiser, Janika Barker, the event was a huge success. The theme came alive in the first round when the finalists wore black and white. The theme also inspired the boys to wear checked suits for the final round. “The finalists wore a variety of outfits. First off was casual wear, followed by active wear, and finally formal wear. They all looked wonderful,” she said.

Mr and Miss Photogenic Mieke Kotze and Victor Mew were also crowned, while Mr and Miss Active went to Juané Verster and Anrique Nortje.

Mr Martie said: “I have the same feeling as when I was announced Head Leader for 2022. It’s going to take a few weeks to fully register. I feel joyful and can only say that God is good.”

Miss Martie said: “I feel overwhelmed with emotions, but over all very happy! Even though everyone could not win, I feel like everyone deserves a crown. They’re all winners.”
