Man will appear in court for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.


A 49-year-old Cleutes Moleko Mabaleha appeared in Tlhabane Magistrate’s Court on 7 March on charges of Illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, theft of copper cables and attempted murder. The accused was granted R1000.00 bail.

He is due to appear again in court on Thursday, 13 March for another bail application.

It is alleged; on Wednesday, the 5th of March four suspects entered Impala no.16 shaft premises, with the intention of stealing copper cables. The suspects were spotted by the security personnel and a shoot-out ensued.

The suspects fled the scene, but the security and police officials managed to arrest one suspect, who had a suspected stolen firearm and four live rounds of ammunition in his possession.

It was later discovered that the firearm was stolen in Boitekong during December 2010. According to the information, the copper cables stolen valued at R15 000.00 was recovered.
