What started out as a hobby, gradually turned into a booming business for Palesa Seitelo, the proud owner of Knits by Palesa.
The 20-year-old Bloemfontein resident picked up her knitting needles back in 2014 and has never since stopped knitting.
Growing up Seitelo loved playing dress-up as fashion was something she was used to as her mother and her brother both were designers.
Knits by Palesa was established on 19 September 2020 when the young entrepreneur was encouraged by friends and family to turn her craft into a business during lockdown.
Her enterprise is all about simply creating beautiful and unique hand knitted products, from bikinis to jerseys.
“The opportunities are endless with knitwear. Knits by Palesa has grown rapidly within a very short space of time, it’s quite shocking to say the least. The results of my hard work have exceeded my expectations,” Seitelo told Bloemfontein Courant.
She describes herself as a big advocate of feeling comfortable in your skin and decided her craft has to cater to all body types. Her work requires her to ask a customer what exactly they want and according to their wishes, she obliges.
Seitelo, who is also a hospitality student, describes juggling school, a social life and a business as a “trip”.
“The best part about my work is that I love what I do, so I’ve really managed to make the most of it.”
