Free State Women in Radio Awards to be held

Women within the radio fraternity are invited to send in their submissions to be considered for an award in the Free State Women In Radio Awards (FSWIRA).

The founder and president, Mannehileng Letuka, has been in the radio fraternity for 12 years and her duration in radio is her greatest inspiration for starting the awards ceremony.

“We also want to honour women for the role they play in our community,” she added.

The team of the awards ceremony include two other women, Julia Qhoai, the organiser, and Pamela Putsoedi, the secretary.

At the moment there are 15 categories for the awards, but the organisers might decide to add more as time goes. They want the ceremony to be physical and the venue will be announced closer to the date of the ceremony. There will be prizes offered for the top three achievers. However, the way winners will be chosen is a bit different from the way traditionally done.

“We will have a panel of judges to judge on the requirements that will be needed for all participants as per their submissions,” Letuka explained.

The awards ceremony is set to take place on 27 November 2021 If you are a woman within the radio fraternity, whether on-air or off-air, and you will like to be nominated for an award, send your details comprising full name, designation and contact details to [email protected] or WhatsApp 063 061 0086, or go to Free State Women In Radio Awards’ Facebook page.
