Transport oversight visit focuses on safer roads

Deputy minister of transport Mkhuleko Hlengwa visited the Free State as part of a two-day
oversight programme focused on road infrastructure, road safety and service delivery.

The visit included stakeholder engagements in Bloemfontein and a road safety activation on the N8 near Botshabelo, attended by Free State MEC for community safety, roads and transport Jabu Mbalula. Hlengwa emphasised the importance of transport in supporting economic growth and development.

“Transport is the backbone of economic growth and social development. It enables people to access opportunities, supports economic activity, and creates an environment where businesses and communities can thrive,” he said.

The visit (17/7) aimed to strengthen collaboration between government stakeholders while
improving transport infrastructure and road safety across the province.
