The AM Music Series, a series of music concerts produced by Angelo Mockie and hosted at Moods and Flavors in Heidedal, is now entering serious musical territory – that of jazz.
According to Mockie, it is about time they dish up something memorable for the true jazz connoisseurs of Bloemfontein.
“After exploring and sharing different genres, which included Soul, Blues, R&B and classical music, the AM Music Series will finally stage a show with which its host venue, Moods and Flavors, has always been associated – jazz!”
Their latest offering, titled Jazz and Other Standards, will feature two of Bloemfontein’s finest pianists, Hattingh Davel and Wayne Louw.
Davel is currently the choir master at Grey College as well as a teacher and music organiser. He will perform some classic jazz standards, accompanied by Jaco de Wet on double bass and Angelo Mockie on drums.
Louw, a session musician in Bloemfontein, will venture into some modern jazz tunes, accompanied by Algey Louw on bass and Angelo Mockie on drums.
According to Mockie audiences can look forward to some great jazz tunes, solos and improvisation by these fine musicians.
Tickets to the concert, which will be on Friday 27 October, are available on the AMMusic Series Facebook page at R100 each. Doors open at 19:00.
