The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in the Free State is satisfied with the latest statistics that are still coming through from the special votes of the 2016 Municipal Elections.

IEC’s provincial spokesperson Mmathabo Rasengane explains.

“We have seen a lot of voters coming to the voting stations for special votes and we are also happy that our home visits are also successful. We have, out of the total of 55 742, as of on Tuesday afternoon, we have about 24 343. As much as the amount is not half of the number of people who applied for special votes, we are still happy with the outcome. This statistic includes, Monday’s stats and Tuesday morning ’til 11 o’clock,” she said.
