The provincial Hawks team has taken over the case of a group of six to 11 armed men who robbed a chain store in the Twin City Mall in Heidedal over the weekend.
Spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi says there has been no arrests have been made and due to the serious of the crime, they are currently investigating the case.
A police report reveals that the men, wearing blue overalls and balaclavas entered the chain store on Friday evening, demanding money.
An undisclosed amount of money and expensive liquor were taken, and on their way out members of the group fired shots at a police vehicle which had responded to the robbery.
A constable from the Heidedal police station was wounded in the hand and a case of business robbery, hijacking and attempted murder is investigated.
