Nine suspects will make their first appearance in court after they were arrested at a school in Phiritona, Heilbron.
On Friday, 7 February a principal of a local school contacted the police at about 07:30, after he was alerted about a group of about 20 boys carrying dangerous weapons. It was alleged that the group came to the school to fight with other boys.
The principal notified the Heilbron station commander of the situation and police swiftly rushed to the school.
According to a statement by the South African Police Services the group fled in different directions when they saw the police vehicles, but police officials managed to chase and arrest nine males aged between 17 and 22 and recovered homemade knifes and pangas.
The nine will appear in the Heilbron Magistrate’s Court soon for the possession of dangerous weapons.
