Cell phone robbers caught while selling stolen stock

Two suspects were arrested while selling stolen cell phones in the Bloemfontein Central Business District hours after robbing a Thaba Nchu clothing store on Friday.

The suspects were caught with 55 cell phones worth an estimated R270 000 after the Park Road police were tipped off about suspicious activity.The men robbed an Exact store in Thaba Nchu with a firearm and fled with the cell phones in three luggage bags.

“What happened was that they stormed into the shop and pretended to be customers. After a short while one of the robbers pulled out a firearm, accosted the manager and his assistant, and forced them to open a safe. Thereafter the suspects made off with boxes of 55 cell phones,” explains Police spokesperson Chaka Marope.
