Bloem DJ gears up for tour

Bloemfontein’s well renowned and seasoned DJ and producer Phillimon Thulo, known as DJ PHIL SA, continues to push boundaries with the recent announcement of his tour. The local DJ who has been on the entertainment scene for the past 20 years, said the journey has been up and down but he is happy with how everything is unfolding.

Thulo told Bloemfontein Courant that he has always been fascinated by music ever since he was a part of the choir during high school, where he also started DJ-ing. “I have been DJ-ing since high school. When we look back now, it has been about 20 years. Believe it or not, I only started getting recognition after the first 10 years,” the Afro Tech DJ mentioned.

He has been producing music for four years now and has an impressive catalog, with over 3 EPS released that gained him over 70,000 streams on Spotify. “Earlier this year, I released an EP called All My Children, which is doing quite well internationally. One of the songs from the EP got remixed by a Greece DJ, called Native P.”

With his latest single, Amazulu, being well received and also on high rotation in radio stations nationwide, Phil says he is ready to go on tour. The first phase of the tour is set to take place from 22 November 2024. He additionally mentioned that the second phase of the tour will include neighbouring countries like Botswana and Lesotho.
