Van Jaarsveld expects the tough battle in Nelspruit

Bloemfontein – Toyota Free State Cheetahs captain, Torsten van Jaarsveld expects a tough match when they face the Pumas in their Currie Cup opener in just under a fortnight.

Speaking for the first time since being announced as the sides’ new captain, Van Jaarsveld said he is looking forward to the challenge, and will use the wisdom and experience of his senior players.

Free State face the Kings next weekend in Craddock in the warm-up match, before travelling to Nelspruit to face Jimmy Stonehouses’ newly promoted Pumas.

Van Jaarsveld who has 73 games for the Pumas to his name, said his former side will be ready and waiting for them.

The Cheetahs face the Pumas at the Mbombela Stadium on 9 August, with kick-off at 19:10.
