Ficksburg police have reported that two school girls drowned on Wednesday afternoon.
The seven-year-old and 17-year-old had their bodies at the scene at Zone Six in Meqheleng by members of the community from the stream flooded by water after heavy rain.
It is alleged that they were walking by themselves when they were washed away by running water in the street and drowned inside a stream that leads to Caledon River.
An inquest docket has been opened to determine the cause of death.
