Two suspects found in possession of a firearm and cellphone belonging to the murdered Elsabeth du Bruyn from Brandfort, have been arrested.
They will today face charges of the possession of stolen goods in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court, where after they will be transported to Brandfort and charged with the murder of Du Bruyn and house robbery.
Free State police spokesperson Malelela Langa says the two were arrested on Saturday morning.
They are suspected to have killed 71-year-old Du Bruyn in her home more than a week ago.
Last week, the two were taken into custory and questioned by detectives. But they were released again because their fingerprints had to be analysed first in order for them to be officially charged.
The Brandfort community has meanwhile expressed shock at the murder of Du Bruyn. This comes more than a year after a local dairy producer, Annatjie Madden (62) was killed in her tuck shop.
