The Park Road K9 Unit received intelligence driven information of a possible cultivation of dagga at a house in the Universitas Area in Bloemfontein over the Easter weekend.
According to police spokesperson, Mahlomola Kareli, two 27-year-old suspects were found upon arrival and K9 members – with the help of a sniffer dog – discovered dagga plants in the garden, some in pots and in the kitchen where it was processed.
“Loose dagga worth an estimated R280 000 was confiscated after it was found in the kitchen and in the cupboards in plastic bags and some in containers. Items used in processing plants and products used for packaging the dagga were also confiscated,” said Kareli.
The suspect will appear in court soon for dealing in dagga, cultivating dagga, and contravening the Immigration Act.
