Power outage in Bloemfontein northern areas continues

Residents will remain without electricity after Centlec failed to meet its previously estimated 18:00 restoration deadline following the power outage at the Bayswater Distribution Centre, leaving affected communities in the dark for longer than anticipated.

In a status update, the utility confirmed that repair work is still underway, but unexpected delays have slowed progress. “We have encountered some delays which impeded our previously estimated restoration time of 18H00. However, we are trying to catch up and expedite the critical activities,” said acting spokesperson Tseliso Leba.

Centlec said it is currently unable to provide a new estimated time for restoration. “Unfortunately, we do not have an estimated restoration time at the present moment. We humbly request the affected communities to exercise patience as we deal with this problem,” Leba added.

The utility said updates will continue to be shared across its communication platforms as repair efforts progress and reiterated its commitment to restoring a reliable power supply as soon as possible.
