New Beginnings Animal Shelter has announced the suspension of its operations due to a severe financial crisis after more than a decade of rescuing abandoned, injured and neglected animals.
After 12 years of caring for vulnerable animals and supporting communities, the shelter revealed that its bank account is empty, leaving it unable to pay staff salaries, settle veterinary bills, purchase food and medication, or fuel vehicles for emergency call-outs.
Despite numerous fundraising efforts over the years including auctions, competitions, markets and charity events, the organisation says it can no longer continue operating under the current financial strain.
The suspension means New Beginnings will no longer be able to respond to emergencies, assist with township animal call-outs or take in new animals until urgent support is secured.
“Effective immediately, New Beginnings is forced to suspend our operations until we can find a way out of this crisis,” the shelter said.
The organisation has called on the public to assist through donations, sponsorships, adoptions or fundraising initiatives, stating that without immediate intervention, its future remains uncertain.
