N1 hit and run suspect wanted

Members of Winburg SAPS attended to an accident scene on 13 November and found a body lying in the middle of the N1 road about 27 km from Winburg towards Ventersburg.

According to Captain Stephen Thakeng, the body was of a male and a preliminary investigation has revealed that it might have been a hit and run.

“The deceased is unknown. He was wearing grey trousers, a brown lumber jacket, blue tackies and an old grey cap with South Africa written on it, with a badge of an elephant. A case of culpable homicide has been registered for further investigation,” said Thakeng.

Anyone with information that may lead to the whereabouts of the motorist, or relatives of the deceased, must please contact Detective Warrant-Officer Dingtekane Mothibi of Winburg Detective Services on 082 301 9668 or the Police Emergency number on 08600 10111.
