The Free State Premier, Sefora Ntombela, has signed a pledge of good governance. Ntombela was joined by other members of Free State Executive Committee in signing a pledge of quality service delivery, good governance, fiscal and financial management.
In her statement, Ntombela said that the signing of the pledge comes after an improved preliminary report from the Auditor-General. She said that there is still much room for improvement, despite encouraging signs in the province’s audit outcomes.
“This pledge is the beginning of restoring dignity and a recommitment to our social contract with the people of the province and we are committed to serve them with absolute distinction. We do appreciate that the road to glory will not be an easy one and it requires sacrifice and dedication from all parties involved. We are willing to able to make the necessary changes,” she said.
She added there is still a long way to go in achieving good governance, despite the notable improvement in different departments. Ntombela said she was inspired by the commitment to their social contract with people of the province, and that the Executive Committee is ready to serve people with excellence. She commended all parties involved and said they are willing to make necessary changes.
