Motorists urged to be cautious on the roads

Motorists in Mangaung have been urged to be cautious on the roads due to inclement weather conditions.

OFM News reports, according to the statement issued by Metro spokesperson, Qondile Khedama, the South African Weather Services (SAWS) has issued a level 2 warning for possible disruptive rain fall, particularly in the former Naledi region.

These warnings are valid for today and tomorrow.

Khedama says heavy rains are also predicted in Bloemfontein today and localised flooding can be expected in susceptible low-lying areas, roads, formal and informal settlements, including bridges.

Khedama is urging road users to reduce speed and switch on their headlights. He also advises pedestrians to avoid crossing rivers and streams where water is above ankle height.

For any emergencies, Khedama advises residents to contact Mangaung’s fire department on 051 406 666 or 051 409 9600 or contact ambulance services on 10177.
