GALOOME SHOPANE The Free State will need more rain before things can get back to normal.
We are still in desperate need of follow up rain says Dan Kriek from Free State agriculture.
He says this past weekend’s rainfall did not make up for the draught experienced earlier.
About 30mm of rain fell in Bloemfontein over the weekend.
“The western parts of the Free State are exceptionally dry and there is no fodder for animals. We would need 50mm of rain and good regular follow-up rain as well. We have a shortage of water in dams, you could understand that we need normal and above normal rain from now on,” says Kriek.
According to the SA Weather Service there is a 60% chance of rain over the Free State by tomorrow night.
