A case of murder is being investigated by Bohlokong detectives in Bethlehem after a family dispute left one person dead on Tuesday 16 June 2020.
The deceased, 40-year-old Jabulani Mguni, was allegedly fighting with his sisters at his house in Phase 7, Bohlokong on Tuesday when the incident happened.
According to a statement by the provincial commissioner in the Free State, the police were summoned to the house and upon arrival found Mguni lying on the floor with injuries on his head and hands. He was rushed to a local hospital where he later died.
According to Colonel Thandi Mbambo, it is alleged that Mguni was already injured when he arrived at his place. He allegedly started a fight with his sisters who live with him.
“Whilst fighting with his sisters he allegedly slipped and fell. Prior to Mguni’s death, a number of domestic related incidents between Mguni and his siblings were reported at the Bohlokong Police Station and the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit,” said Mbambo.
Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane, provincial commissioner of the Free State said that domestic violence is a serious problem in the country, and such incidents should be reported as soon as possible.
Bohlokong detectives are awaiting the results of Mguni’s post-mortem to determine the cause of his death.
